Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an Electrical Intern to contribute to innovative, sustainable engineering solutions. You will work with engineers to design energy-efficient buildings, prepare technical drawings in Revit, and analyze loads for power and lighting systems.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, with coursework in power systems, and an interest in building services design. Hybrid work and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and/or building systems design.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering with emphasis on power systems.
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software such as Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to design energy-efficient buildings and integrate electrical systems.
• Prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports using Revit.
• Analyze load to determine system sizing and assign circuitry for power and lighting.
• Perform building services design and calculations with Design Master and SKM.
• Adopt the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability.

Your key duties

• As an Electrical Intern, you will collaborate with other engineers to develop creative, energy-efficient buildings that provide aesthetics to their physical surroundings and utility to their occupants.
• Using Revit, prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports
• Analyze load to determine system sizing, and assign circuitry for power and lighting devices
• Undertake electrical engineering building services design and calculations (using software and knowledge to verify robust calculations such as Design Master and SKM)
• Embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability

Your skills and experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and/or building systems design
• Interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline
• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry preferred
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit, AutoCAD
• Internship experience at engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
