Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) is seeking an Electrical Intern to support the engineering staff on various projects. The role focuses on learning design principles, policies, and procedures while contributing to project tasks under supervision.

The intern will gain hands-on experience with site visits, plan reviews, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team as SSR fosters development and growth for students entering the engineering profession.

• Assist engineering staff in executing technical activities on assigned projects.

• May be required to lift and handle plans or equipment up to 30 pounds.

Description

The Electrical Intern assists the engineering staff in the execution of the technical activities required on assigned projects and begins to learn the discipline technical policies and procedures. Under supervision participates in technical studies, investigation and designs on assigned projects. Assists the project team in the production of projects which shall include but not be limited to:

• Demonstrated ability to learn the basics of design and analyses within his or her discipline.
• An individual with potential for employment and growth within the firm.
• Incumbent must be able to operate a computer to check email and to produce documents using a software program.
• Incumbent shall be able to traverse and navigate construction sites to inspect work done by contractors.
• Manipulates plans periodically. Must be able to lift plans weighting 30 pounds.
