Job summary

Patton Electronics Co in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking an Electrical Integration and Test Engineer to support product development and the introduction of new products into Manufacturing.

You will apply electronics hardware, software, and test engineering knowledge to collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers and Manufacturing personnel to develop, validate, and sustain Patton products through the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

Job description

The Electrical Integration and Test Engineer supports product development activities within the Engineering department and the introduction of new products into Manufacturing. This individual applies knowledge of electronics hardware, software, and test engineering to collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers and Manufacturing personnel to develop, validate, and sustain Patton products throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Integrate electrical and mechanical components for prototypes, engineering validation activities, and manufacturing test systems.
• Develop, maintain, and improve production test procedures, test fixtures, and automated test equipment.
• Develop and maintain software tools, automated test applications, and scripts used for engineering validation, product qualification, and manufacturing test, including support and enhancement of existing automated test systems.
• Participate in prototype and pilot production runs to facilitate the transition of new products into manufacturing.
• Assemble, configure, program, test, troubleshoot, and repair digital and analog electronic circuitry and systems.
• Perform engineering validation, functional verification, performance testing, and root-cause analysis of product and manufacturing issues.
• Assist in safety, EMC, emissions, environmental, interoperability, regulatory compliance, and use-case testing of products.
• Prepare Units Under Test (UUTs), test fixtures, and supporting documentation for third-party compliance and qualification testing.
• Document test procedures, maintain test records, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with design engineers to identify and resolve hardware, software, and manufacturing-related issues.
• Assist with PCB layout activities for product maintenance releases and minor revisions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, manufacturing efficiency, test coverage, and reliability.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
• Three or more years of directly applicable experience in electronics test, product validation, manufacturing test, or related engineering activities.
• Proficiency with Python programming for test automation, data collection, analysis, and scripting.
• Experience developing automated test systems, production test fixtures, or engineering validation environments.
• Familiarity with common electronic test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and network test equipment.
• Familiarity with communications equipment, networking technologies, and communications protocols is advantageous.
• Experience supporting safety, EMC, environmental, or regulatory compliance testing is advantageous.
• Ability to read, understand, and modify electronic schematics, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while managing multiple assignments to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with National Instruments LabVIEW, TestStand, or comparable automated test platforms is advantageous.
• Experience developing manufacturing test fixtures and automated test equipment (ATE).
• Experience with embedded systems, serial communications, Ethernet networking, VoIP, telecommunications equipment, or industrial communications products.
• Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting test data using scripting, automation, and statistical techniques.
• Experience working within ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
• Experience supporting third-party certification testing and regulatory compliance activities.
