Job summary

Cohu, Inc. is seeking a senior electrical engineer to own the electrical implementation of semiconductor handler modules across the product lifecycle, from prototype through sustaining engineering, manufacturing support, and field service.

You will develop and integrate electrical systems for complex industrial equipment, define cable routing per NFPA 79, lead wiring design reviews, and collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to drive robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years designing complex industrial electrical systems; 8 years preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Zuken E3 is highly desired.
• Experience with Altium Designer and AutoCAD (or DraftSight) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical implementation of assigned semiconductor handler modules throughout their entire product lifecycle, including prototype development, production release, manufacturing support, field support, and sustaining engineering.
• Develop and integrate electrical systems for complex industrial equipment, including cable and harness assemblies, high-flex cable systems, e-chain routing, industrial power distribution, electrical protection, control hardware, sensors, safety systems, and associated electrical components.
• Define cable routing to comply with NFPA 79 requirements while minimizing electrical noise (EMI), crosstalk, and supporting long-term system reliability.
• Follow company harness and wiring standards and participate in their continuous improvement in coordination with other engineering groups.
• Coordinate wire harness manufacturing with production, provide technical support during fabrication, and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Coordinate procurement of prototype electrical components and ensure materials are available to support prototype build schedules.
