Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Longview, WA is seeking an E&I Technician to oversee routine and emergency maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in our corrugating process. You’ll handle instrumentation calibration, control valves, transmitters, sensors and related equipment to ensure uptime and safety.

The role requires a Journeyman level in E&I or related fields, with strong PLC, electrical schematics, and mechanical knowledge.

Qualifications

• Four years’ experience in industrial maintenance as a Journeyman E&I Technician or two years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician/Instrument Technician plus two years formal education in Electrical or Instrumentation.
• 3 years’ industry experience as a Journeyman Mechanic/Maintenance Technician (facility, large equipment electrical and mechanical).
• Experience troubleshooting electrical schematics, mechanical systems, PLCs, HVAC, air compressors, hydraulic systems and/or paperboard converting systems.
• Journeyman License preferred.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate and test instrumentation (transmitters, actuators, sensors, control valves) for reliability and uptime.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and metering control instruments (valves, transmitters, heat trace panels, cylinders, solenoid valves).
• Troubleshoot telemetry, process controller hardware and software; read wiring schematics for Corrugated equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and software/hardware; perform software changes.
• Install/repair wiring, transformers, motors, VFDs, servo drives, protective devices, and lighting per codes and standards.
• Use precision hand and power tools safely; coordinate with other departments for upgrades.
• Perform maintenance tasks to improve reliability and uptime in corrugating manufacturing.
