Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Longview, WA is seeking an E&I Technician responsible for routine and emergency maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment used in the corrugating manufacturing process. You will install, test and calibrate instrumentation, troubleshoot PLCs and wiring, and collaborate with other departments on system upgrades.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and two‑year formal education in Electrical or Instrumentation
• Background as Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician with industrial maintenance experience
• Experience troubleshooting electrical schematics, PLCs, HVAC, and mechanical systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform wiring tasks per specs
• 2 years of electrical experience under a qualified journeyman preferred

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate and test instrumentation (transmitters, actuators, sensors, valves) for reliability and uptime
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and control instruments
• Troubleshoot PLCs, software and hardware; implement software changes
• Read and perform wiring tasks according to schematics for corrugated equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair transformers, motors, VFDs, servo drives and lighting per code
• Work with various tools and equipment, and coordinate with other departments for upgrades
• Support maintenance tasks to improve equipment reliability in corrugating process
• Carry out duties typical of a Journeyman Mechanic in addition to the listed tasks
