The City of San Clemente is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Electrical Instrumentation Technician I/II. This role involves maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment related to water and sewer systems, including overhauling and constructing electrical machinery.
The City reserves the option to hire at either the Technician I or II level, based on qualifications and the selection process.
Salary ranges:
Scheduled salary increases are projected for July 2025, 2026, and 2027.
This position is open until filled, so timely application submission is encouraged.
Work assignments are based on experience, certification, and skill level, with Technician I being entry-level under supervision, and Technician II being full journey-level with independent responsibilities.
Knowledge of electrical construction, safety practices, electrical theory, and codes. Ability to operate tools and equipment, read schematics, and work independently.
Technician I: 2 years of electrical maintenance experience; high school diploma and relevant coursework; CWEA Grade I certification within 12 months; valid Class C driver license.
Technician II: 3 years of similar experience; CWEA Grade II certification within 12 months; valid Class C driver license.
Respond to emergencies, participate in after-hours duties, and meet response times.
Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to hazards, and physical tasks including lifting, operating equipment, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
