Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's Augusta facility is seeking a motivated Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance team. The role focuses on troubleshooting, calibration, and installation of plant electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems to ensure peak performance.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, be familiar with PLCs, HMI/DCS, and safety standards, and be able to work flexible shifts with overtime as needed. Training and advancement opportunities are available.

Qualifications

Five or more years of electrical or instrument and control troubleshooting in manufacturing.
Experience troubleshooting industrial controls PLCs, motor controls, control valves, electrical distribution, servo systems, and DC/AC motors (24–480 V).
Excellent ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics/blueprints.
Knowledge of NFPA 70 arc flash electrical safety and OSHA regulations.
Experience installing, calibrating, monitoring, modifying, programming, and maintaining HMI and DCS instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair, perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and installation of plant electrical, electronic, instrumentation and automation equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve downtime events quickly and effectively.
Support operations in maintaining machines at centerline conditions and standard operating speeds.
Identify and initiate maintenance repairs as required to sustain equipment performance.
Proficiently use specialized computers and equipment specific software to maintain instrumentation, PLCs and electrical systems.
Install, calibrate, monitor, modify, program, and maintain PLC, HMI and DCS control instrumentation.
Use craftsman level experience with low-, med-, high-voltage systems, AC/DC motors, drives, wiring, transformers, control components.
Read electrical diagrams, schematics, and drawings.
Use specialized tools and testers to maintain and repair motors, drives, and instrumentation.
Change hardware to maintain interface between automation and operations.
Operate and train on HMI and Robotics system controls.
Perform maintenance on equipment monitoring flow, temperature, density and pressure.
Manage E&I projects for new/existing installations.
