Job summary

Sofidel America is expanding its Duluth, MN facility and seeks an E&I Technician to maintain plant electrical and instrumentation systems. The role requires a strong electrical background, PLC/DCS know-how, and experience with AB/Rockwell equipment.

Expect a 12-hour swing shift and emphasis on safety, documentation, and collaboration with engineering. The ideal candidate will have relevant education, hands-on experience with industrial controls, and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2-year certification from college or technical school or equivalent in Electrical Engineering/Electronics preferred.
• At least one year of strong industrial electrical background in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electronics background with experience in 480V, 2300V, 35kV, 3-Phase Controls; AB/Rockwell DC Drives; AB/Rockwell PLCs, Control Logic; Reading Electrical Drawings and Ladder Logic.
• Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers).
• Understanding of the working components of PLC/DCS systems.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow safety regulations and plant procedures with PPE as required.
• Participate in and support mill safety training and safety engagement activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate tools/software.
• Test and troubleshoot process instrumentation and sensors (flow meters, level transmitters, switches).
• Interpret electrical schematics and user manuals.
• PLC/DCS programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Repair electrical and electronic systems including electromechanical production equipment.
• Collect PLC I/O data to monitor equipment efficiency for future planning.
• Interpret blueprints and diagrams to maintain process control systems.
• Update control documentation and reflect process improvements.
• Assist management/engineering on projects as needed.
• Adhere to safe work practices and maintain product quality.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to improve efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
