The Chillicothe Mill is a fully integrated paper operation located in southern Ohio, just south of Columbus. The mill employs approximately 900 team members.

Job Description
The E/I Mechanic supports pulp and paper manufacturing equipment, playing a crucial role in ensuring efficient operations. The role requires electrician skills to ensure all electrical and instrumentation work complies with State and Federal codes. The technician works closely with operations, responsible for electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic hardware and software aspects, including components like VFDs, motors, solenoids, limit switches, PLC I/O modules, sensors, and transmitters. The position involves planning, procurement, documentation, and knowledge sharing for maintenance activities, emphasizing safety and compliance.

Accountabilities

  • Apply applicable codes, regulations, standards, and strategies to electrical and instrumentation tasks.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment such as PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and DCS systems.
  • Install, start-up, program, calibrate, and tune systems, applying current best practices for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Follow safety policies, including NFPA 70E standards.
  • Use electronic test equipment for troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Contribute to reducing waste and achieving quality goals through maintenance.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for support.
  • Assist with reliability strategies and maintenance planning.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Promote a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two-year technical degree or five years of relevant electrical experience; Journeyman preferred
  • Ability to pass written and hands-on tests
  • Proficient in computer use and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders/stairs, stand for long periods
  • Willing to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read schematics/blueprints
  • Comfortable working in a noisy, hot, humid, and dusty environment
  • Commitment to safety and PPE use

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in pulp and paper mill maintenance
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Allen Bradley systems, DCS systems, and system integration
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office
