Job summary

The Chemours Corpus Christi facility located in Ingleside, Texas has an opening for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Reliability Engineer (RE) to join our Corpus Christi team!

This position will report to the Site Maintenance and Reliability Manager and support the long-term performance, safety, and reliability of electrical distribution and instrumentation systems within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will combine deep electrical engineering knowledge with practical field experience and strong reliability discipline. This role is ideal for someone who can troubleshoot complex equipment issues, support safe and compliant operations, improve maintenance strategies, and help drive a proactive reliability culture across Operations, Maintenance, and Technology teams.

The preferred location for this role is the Corpus Christi site in Ingleside, TX with support of the La Porte, TX site. (Travel ~25%) Candidate may reside at La Porte, TX site, but primary support is for the Corpus Christi location. (Travel ~50%)

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide technical expertise for the reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance of plant electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • Support safe, reliable operation of electrical distribution systems, including low, medium, and high voltage systems, motor control centers, switchgear, relays, power cables, and related infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and site procedures, including NEC, NFPA 70E, hazardous classified location requirements, and facility electrical safety practices.

  • Support PSM-covered and highly hazardous processes through participation in MOCs, PHAs, equipment evaluations, and compliance reviews.

  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Technology teams to troubleshoot equipment failures, evaluate repair options, and recommend practical short- and long-term solutions.

  • Lead or support Root Cause Failure Analyses, kaizen events, and structured problem-solving efforts to eliminate defects and prevent recurrence.

  • Analyze maintenance, reliability, and performance data to identify trends, failure patterns, risk areas, and improvement opportunities.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies for electrical equipment, instrumentation, valves, and power distribution systems.

  • Evaluate critical spare parts inventory and recommend improvements to strengthen equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle cost performance.

  • Promote a strong safety and reliability culture through standard work practices, resource recommendations, training support, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Develop area-specific equipment expertise and serve as a subject matter expert for maintenance procedures, skills development, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement initiatives.

  • Support capital projects through design input, electrical hazard analysis, technical review, reliability evaluations, and scope development.

  • Develop, review, and approve specifications, scopes of work, estimates, schedules, vendor proposals, and designs for electrical components, instrumentation, control systems, and power distribution equipment.

The following is required for this role:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical, instrumentation, and/or reliability engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. (10+ yrs preferred)

  • Experience designing, specifying, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and power distribution equipment.

  • Experience with low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems, including motor control centers, switchgear, relays, power cables, and related equipment; high voltage distribution experience is required where applicable to site assets.

  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code, with emphasis on hazardous electrically classified locations.

  • Manufacturing experience; chemical manufacturing or other PSM-regulated experience is strongly preferred for site operations involving highly hazardous processes.

  • Proficiency with condition-based maintenance technologies such as infrared thermography, ultrasonics, performance testing, and monitoring tools.

  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to cross-functional audiences.

  • Proven ability to manage short-duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities.

The following is preferred for this role:
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System, such as SAP.

  • Experience applying Lean methodologies to maintenance processes and supporting the implementation of business systems.

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional certification.

  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis, failure analysis techniques, reliability engineering best practices, and manufacturing maintenance strategies.

  • Strong understanding of reliability methodologies, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Mean Time Between Failures, predictive maintenance frameworks, and defect elimination methods.

  • Familiarity with advanced reliability strategies such as Total Productive Maintenance, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, equipment uptime optimization, lifecycle cost analysis, and Total Cost of Ownership.
