Midwest Technical Institute – Springfield, IL is seeking an experienced Electrical Instructor to teach and mentor adult students preparing for careers in the electrical trade.

You will deliver classroom instruction and hands-on lab training, uphold safety standards, and help students earn industry certifications. Strong industry experience and teaching ability are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional electrical industry experience.
• Teaching or training experience preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, codes, and safety standards.
• Current industry certifications preferred, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on lab training using an established curriculum.
• Demonstrate industry best practices, safety standards, and electrical techniques.
• Evaluate student progress through assignments, practical assessments, and exams.
• Prepare students for industry certifications and entry-level employment.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
• Track student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
• Ensure lab equipment and materials are maintained and ready for instruction.
• Collaborate with academic leadership to support student success and continuous program improvement.
• Stay current with industry trends and maintain applicable certifications.
