Job Description

The Electrical Inspector V will observe and accept installation of all electrical distribution systems, including electrical switchgear, substations, motor control centers, panelboards, electrical cabling with electrical trays and conduits, and communication systems and cabling. Installation of heating and ventilation, heat recovery, and air conditioning will also be part of the role. New electrical distribution systems will be installed at the existing Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) across various buildings, underground tunnels, and below-grade duct banks. The Construction Inspector will have the primary responsibility for ensuring the quality of construction. Additional responsibilities include:

• Monitoring Contractor’s construction activities, verifying work compliance with contract documents, rejecting defective work, maintaining logs, and assisting with resolving construction issues.
• Coordinating with the Contractor to identify upcoming work and verifying it against look-ahead schedules.
• Reviewing contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and related documentation.
• Communicating daily with the AECOM Resident Engineer and Contractor’s field team.
• Tracking work progress, monitoring schedule adherence, and providing input on payment requests.
• Inspecting work for compliance, identifying nonconforming work, and documenting all activities with reports, photos, and videos.
• Verifying contractor’s time, material, and force account work.
• Ensuring work quality, compliance with specifications, and approval of testing and QA/QC activities.
• Maintaining project documentation, including reports and logs.
• Providing input on construction changes, assisting with field orders and change orders.
• Observing health and safety procedures.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Resident Engineer.
• Coordinating contractor work with Plant Operations, focusing on civil and structural coordination.
• Verifying delivered materials and equipment against approved vendors.
• Witnessing and verifying field testing.
• Tracking daily quantities installed and preparing T&M reports.
• Verifying maintenance of As-Built drawings and reviewing look-ahead schedules.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma with 8 years of related construction inspection experience or equivalent education and experience.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Certification.
• Experience with Wastewater facilities or WRRFs.
• Knowledge of SCADA PLC/Automated Systems.
• Understanding of HVAC Systems, Motor Controls, and Power Feed installation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering Degree in a related field.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Health and Safety Certification.
• Trade experience and specialized training such as NYCDEP scaffolding, NYSDEC erosion control, or EHS standards.
