Job summary

County of Maui seeks a Journey level Electrical Inspector II to perform electrical inspections in a variety of buildings, including multi-storied structures, ensuring compliance with the Maui County electrical codes, NEC, and approved plans.

The role requires attainment of a Hawaii Journeyman or Supervising Electrician license (or Master Electrician with Inspector certification) and a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent; five (5) years of inspection or supervision of electrical installation work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings for compliance with Maui County electrical codes, NEC, and plans.
• Schedule and prioritize daily inspection assignments and inspections.
• Issue stop-work notices and certificates when installations are compliant or non-compliant.
• Follow up on violation notices to verify corrections are made.
• Review electrical plans and approve issuance of electrical permits.
• Prepare written reports and maintain records of inspections and investigations.
