Job summary

Doña Ana County is seeking an electrical inspector to evaluate construction sites for compliance with applicable electrical codes and county ordinances. The role covers new and remodeled structures, including assessing safety factors, permits, and required inspections.

The inspector conducts thorough site visits, prepares detailed reports, and coordinates with applicants and other agencies to ensure timely, compliant inspections.

Qualifications

• Qualify for electrical inspector exam within 3 months of hire.
• Meet general building inspector requirements per NM CID and NMAC.
• Electrical: 3 years journeyman or foreman experience.
• Substitutions for experience with training or other experience allowed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings during construction and remodeling.
• Determine compliance with codes and regulations.
• Prepare reports and issue permits and citations.
• Coordinate inspection requests and provide quality customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.
