Job summary

Doña Ana County is seeking a Building Inspector to evaluate structural soundness and permit compliance for new and remodeled constructions across the county. You will assess use, occupancy, and adherence to applicable laws, reporting findings and issuing permits as required.

The role requires knowledge of building codes, strong inspection skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple agencies. A valid driver's license and licensure timelines are part of the qualification process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of foreman experience in general construction; licensure within three months of hire.
• Substitutions: up to two years foreman experience with related training; five years as inspector plus related training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Inspect industrial, commercial, and residential buildings at various construction stages.
• Determine compliance with county, state, and federal codes and ordinances.
• Prepare inspection reports and issue permits/citations; coordinate inspection requests.
• Provide site checks for mobile and manufactured homes per setbacks and skirting rules.
