Role description

Arcadis is currently searching for a qualifiedElectrical Construction Inspector, with 10 or more years’ experience to join our Water Construction Management team working out of field offices in the El Paso and El Paso County area of Texas.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Electrical Inspector will utilize their prior experience and expertise in construction field management, QA / QC, report documentation, knowledge of national electrical codes, in the field, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater plant and infrastructure projects or programs in the Riverside County area.

Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks such asproviding compliance monitoring of electrical installations and regular updates on daily construction activities. They will perform daily electrical inspections, coordination, testing oversight, commissioning, and verification of Contract Document compliance on High, Medium and Low voltage systems. May also conduct inspection of instrumentation and controls, communications, fire alarm and security systems.

Role accountabilities:

• Will provide supervision of overall quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols, construction techniques and timely completion of daily inspection activities and will be responsible for inspection of materials used on projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and ordinances, on behalf of Clients and Owners.
• Reviews plans for assigned projects, observes and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, safety meetings, and bid openings.
• Inspector will provide coordination of information both written and orally, to client staff, Arcadisstaff, and outside agencies.
• Will perform quantity estimates, and review of submittals and other construction documents.
• Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
• Performs daily inspections, daily reports, punch list inspections, and participates in project schedule and invoice reviews.
• Manages contracts, maintains quality assurance requirements, and approaches, and manages field inspection and monitoring code compliance issues.
• Uses basic knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure compliance with Arcadisstandards and those put forth in other contract documents for timely completion and quality product.
• While performing daily inspection of active projects, Inspector will be required to ensure Arcadisproject safety guidelines are being met. Any noncompliant activities will be reported to the H&S Representative and/or Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction industry specializing in electrical installations, engineering, or inspection.

Key Skills and Attributes

• Extensive knowledge and experience of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E), Applicable State of Texas Codes, electrical inspection practices and procedures.
• Must have background demonstrating knowledge of electrical power distribution, control, and PLC systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships owner, construction management staff and contractors, utility company representatives, regulatory agencies, and other public and private organizations.
• Able to prepare detailed record documentation of work in progress.
• Basic knowledge of Primavera and/or MS Project and proficiency, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
• Position requires employee to work in various weather conditions, in potentially dangerous surroundings. Must be able to frequently climb; some inspection work will be at elevated heights, and have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of Electrical construction inspection experience.
• Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field of study or a HS Diploma along with Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Electrical Construction related area.
• Bachelors' Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Engineering Technology.
• Certifications/Licenses - Ideal candidate would currently be at least a Journeyman Electrician License and can pass the Master Electrician License in Texas within one year of employment.
• OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
• NFPA 70E Certified
• Electrical and I&C experience working as or with a General Engineering Contractor / or Electrical Contractor.
