Job Opportunity: Electrical Inspector

Nationwide has an opening for an experienced electrical inspector to join our property/casualty loss control team. This role involves inspecting commercial facilities to identify electrical fire risks and managing the infrared thermal imaging inspection program for our farm and commercial agribusiness customers. Ideal candidates may have experience as:

  • Commercial Electrician
  • Infrared Thermographer
  • Commercial Building Electrical Inspector

The role includes conducting physical inspections, authoring reports, and recommending risk improvements to positively influence loss experience. Responsibilities also include managing our thermal imaging service, such as promoting it to customers, training staff and partners, maintaining equipment, and performing surveys.

This is a work-from-home position, located anywhere in the lower 48 states, with approximately 50% travel nationwide.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical work experience in a commercial setting, demonstrated by roles such as licensed electrician, electrical inspector, or infrared thermographer.
  • Technical knowledge of electrical infrastructure in commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Expertise in the National Electric Code (NFPA 70).
  • Ability to consult with clients on electrical risk management.
Preferred Certifications and Licenses
  • Master or Journeyman electrical license
  • Level I or higher Thermographer Certification
  • NFPA 70E electrical safety trainer certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
  • Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI)
Educational Requirements

Completion of a formal electrician training program or a commercial electrical inspection training program.

Additional Job Details

This role requires a keen sense of observation, risk assessment skills, and a consulting mindset, especially within the agriculture and food industries. The position involves onsite surveys, risk analysis, report writing, and collaboration with underwriting and clients to reduce exposures.
