The City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division is seeking an Electrical Inspection Specialist to perform electrical inspections and verify compliance with adopted codes on complex projects. The role requires licensed electricians and inspects a range of commercial and residential work.

Qualifications include a Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician license and an ICC energy inspector certification within six months.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field.
  • State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License or State of Texas Master Electrician License
  • ICC Commercial Energy Inspector or Residential Energy Inspector/Plan Reviewer certification within 6 months of employment

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical inspections to verify compliance with the adopted codes on the more complex projects within the City of Fort Worth
  • Attend construction and pre-construction meetings with developers and permit holders
  • Hands-on inspection training in the field with inspectors covering aspects of electrical installations and energy compliance
  • Assisting with less complicated inspections when assistance is needed by other inspectors

Pay Range:$28.62 - $ 35.78/hr. | $59,534 - $74,418 annual compensation

An Electrical Inspection Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division. The inspections division performs a variety of construction inspection duties including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, sign, and parkway inspections and verifying zoning compliance. With a staff of thirty-four employees, the inspections division performs inspections on a diverse mix of commercial and residential projects for compliance with building codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field
  • State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License or State of Texas Master Electrician License
  • ICC Commercial Energy Inspector or the Residential Energy Inspector/Plan Reviewer certification are required within six (6) months of employment

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
