Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Discipline Estimator for Substation, Transmission, Distribution and Switchyard projects. You will take off, compile and review bids and proposals for high and medium voltage electrical infrastructure, performing cost analyses and value-driven estimates as part of proposal and project control support.

Ideal candidates have strong estimating skills, experience with InEight or similar tools, and proficiency in Excel/Access, with the ability to interpret specifications

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required.
• Field and/or project experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual estimating, cost analysis and estimate coordination and consolidation.
• Review the design scope and develop quantities.
• Perform productivity analysis of estimates, prepare contingency, escalation and reconciliations.
• Prepare contingency, escalation and reconciliations for estimates.
• Compare scope, quantities and cost data between projects.
• Prepare management presentations and develop the estimate basis.
• Update and maintain historical cost data.
• Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and change management related to improvements.
• Act as an individual contributor with no subordinates.
