Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking a Site Electrical Engineer to support the Maintenance Department at our California facility. You will maintain electrical diagrams, act as AHJ for NFPA 70E compliance, and specify PM/PdM activities while guiding electricians and mechanics on diverse projects.

You will apply expertise in PLCs, HMIs, DCS, UPS, and low-/medium-voltage systems, contribute to PSSR, and help ensure safe commissioning and start-up of process equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 2 years of experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives, motors, and power distribution equipment.
• Experience in Facility Engineering and RCFA/FMEA/thermography.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update plant electrical single-line diagrams and Arc Flash labeling.
• Act as AHJ for NFPA 70E compliance.
• Specify preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
• Apply knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, DCS, UPS, and low-/medium-voltage plant systems.
• Provide maintenance input to new Process Equipment Purchase Specifications.
• Direct Electricians, Mechanics, and other staff to support projects and maintenance efforts.
• Collaborate with I&E Technicians and Management.
• Train coworkers in areas of expertise as needed.
• Participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Specify on-site maintenance and tooling requirements.
• Recommend improvements based on RCFA findings.
• Analyze equipment trends and field data for reliability improvements.
• Ensure installation and operation conform to standards by preparing electrical specifications/drawings.
• Establish construction/manufacturing/installation standards via detailed calculations.
• Coordinate installation, maintenance, and testing activities to meet specs.

Job description

Focus on different projects in support of the plant's design and operational needs to ensure safe and efficient operations that meet business needs across the organization. Manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise and participate in long-term planning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Site Electrical Engineer supporting the Maintenance Department.
• Maintain and update plant electrical single-line diagrams and associated Arc Flash Analysis / labeling.
• Serve as an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for NFPA 70E compliance.
• Specify appropriate Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities.
• Apply knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and low-voltage <600 VAC plant systems.
• Apply knowledge of DC voltage systems for PLCs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and other plant systems.
• Provide Maintenance functional input to new Process Equipment Purchase Specifications to ensure adequacy.
• Provide direction to Electricians, Mechanics, and other staff disciplines to support projects and maintenance efforts.
• Work collaboratively with I&E Technicians and Management.
• Train co-workers in areas of expertise as needed.
• Participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR) to ensure safe commissioning and system start-up.
• Participate in specifying on-site maintenance and repair capabilities and tooling requirements.
• Recommend improvements based on Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings.
• Recommend equipment reliability improvements by analyzing equipment trends, historical data, and field data.
• Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and plant requirements by preparing electrical system specifications and/or technical drawings.
• Establish construction, manufacturing, or installation standards and specifications by performing detailed calculations.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and plant requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, and testing activities.
• Perform additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, low- and medium-power distribution, substations, and power distribution equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, cables, and related equipment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Facility Engineering.
• Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Thermography, and Motor Circuit Analysis.
• Prior experience in Chemical Manufacturing with Process Safety Management (PSM) is preferred.
