Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Electrical Cable Harness Design Engineer to develop SID/BID/WID diagrams and install electrical harnesses for the Lunar Transportation Program in the United States. You will design harnesses for power, RF, and high-speed data, using 3D CAD tools and addressing EMI/RFI considerations.

The role requires a strong background in wire harness design, CREO or similar CAD, and experience with harness standards.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in a relevant technical field is required.
  • 4+ years' experience designing wire harnesses.
  • Experience creating SID/BID/WID diagrams.
  • Familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620A standards.
  • US citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering SID, BID, and WID diagrams.
  • Integrate and install electrical harnesses.
  • Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, and data.
  • Create 3D routed harness data files.
  • Provide guidance for hardware installation and integration.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will design and develop harnesses to support the Lunar Lander Vehicle Test Bed (VTB), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test beds and component testers. In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will support the development, design, and operation of vehicle test bed for system level testing.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing the engineering, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID).
  • Integration and installation of electrical harnesses
  • As an electrical Cable Harness Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal, selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
  • Also understanding and application of EMI/RFI and harness shielding.
  • Creation of 3D routed harness data files utilizing 3D CAD software.
  • The design and integration of harness support brackets, support design configuration development and trade studies, provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
  • You will support the team developing the harness assemblies across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition, design, analysis, design review, manufacture, test and through release to production.

  • Support the design and build of the HIL test beds with a focus on the lab infrastructure (Racks, Harnesses).
Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 4+ years' experience designing Wire Harnesses.
  • 4+ years' experience in Creating schematics, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID)
  • Experience in configuration management cycle of harness drawings.
  • Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
  • Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A.
  • Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software, preferred CREO, Zuken
  • Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.
  • Experience designing and integrating electrical harnessing for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aircraft is desired.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Experience with ZUKEN E3 software.
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.
Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70
