Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to lead electrical harness development for a Mk1 Vehicle module. You will create Wiring Interconnect Diagrams (WID), 3D routed harness data, and installation drawings, with impact on spaceflight.

The role requires 10+ years in aerospace harness design, strong CAD skills (Creo, Zuken, Windchill), and experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD-8739.4.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 10+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or CATIA.
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Working knowledge of harness design and manufacturing standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881.
• Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.
• Design for manufacturability experience.

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal.
• Select harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
• Create Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3.
• Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling.
• Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data sets.
• Design and integration of harness support brackets.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies.
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
• Support the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
• Report on activity schedule and technical status.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
• Informally mentor and train less experienced harness engineers.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be leading the electrical and mechanical harness design for a module of the Mk1 vehicle as part of the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team. In this role, you will develop wiring interconnect diagrams (WID), harness assembly drawings, and harness installation drawings. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or Catia

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Creo, Zuken and Windchill
• Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
• Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems
• Experience with GD&T and ASME drawing practices

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
