Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking an Electrical Harness Design Engineer to design wire harnesses for power, RF, and high-speed data.

You’ll create SID/BID/WID diagrams, integrate harnesses across the full product life cycle, and support lab and flight hardware with CAD tools like CREO and Zuken.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related subject area.
  • 4+ years’ experience designing Wire Harnesses.
  • 4+ years’ experience in creating SID, BID, WID diagrams.
  • Experience in configuration management cycle of harness drawings.
  • Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
  • Familiar with harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A.
  • Strong 3-D CAD design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software (CREO, Zuken).
  • Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.
  • Experience designing harnessing for spacecraft/launch vehicles/aircraft is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and install electrical harnesses.
  • Design harnesses for power, RF, and high‑speed data signals; select components and hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Developing the engineering, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID).
  • Integration and installation of electrical harnesses
  • As an electrical Cable Harness Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal, selection of harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
  • Also understanding and application of EMI/RFI and harness shielding.
  • Creation of 3D routed harness data files utilizing 3D CAD software.
  • The design and integration of harness support brackets, support design configuration development and trade studies, provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
  • You will support the team developing the harness assemblies across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition, design, analysis, design review, manufacture, test and through release to production.
  • We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
  • Support the design and build of the HIL test beds with a focus on the lab infrastructure (Racks, Harnesses).
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 4+ years’ experience designing Wire Harnesses.
  • 4+ years’ experience in Creating schematics, system interconnect diagrams (SID), block interconnect diagrams (BID), wiring interconnect diagrams (WID)
  • Experience in configuration management cycle of harness drawings.
  • Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
  • Familiar with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A.
  • Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software, preferred CREO, Zuken
  • Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.
  • Experience designing and integrating electrical harnessing for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aircraft is desired.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired
  • Experience with ZUKEN E3 software.
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.
Base Pay Range For

WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
