Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to drive the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware. You will work on complex PCBA designs with FPGA SoCs in our product development lab.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to validate high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits, ensure EMI/EMC compliance, and scale production with contract manufacturers. U.S. citizenship and clearance suitability are required.

Qualifications

  • Design for cost, test, and manufacturing (DFx) experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years hardware engineering experience.
  • Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, validation, and debugging.
  • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex PCB designs with FPGA SoCs.

Overview

Join AWS as an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to support the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware. Drive innovation in complex PCBA designs utilizing state-of-the-art FPGA SoCs, working with world-class engineers in our dedicated product development lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development of complex PCB designs incorporating FPGA SoCs
  • Support system-level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) processes with contract manufacturers
  • Develop and validate high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits
  • Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC compliance, thermal, and signal integrity requirements
  • Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define hardware interfaces and requirements
  • Participate in design reviews and drive technical consensus across multiple teams
Day in the Life

You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, and FPGA engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Your responsibilities will span supporting innovative hardware solutions, conducting PCB design reviews, troubleshooting prototypes, and providing technical influence to team members. You’ll establish strong partnerships with product managers to define technical requirements, collaborate with FPGA engineers to refine hardware interfaces, and work alongside manufacturing teams to ensure successful production scaling.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or experience working in electrical engineering field
  • 3+ years of hardware engineering experience
  • Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, hardware validation and debugging
  • U.S. Citizen and current active Secret security clearance; ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which you perform AWS work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hardware engineering experience
  • Expertise in signal integrity and power integrity analysis and PCB design tools (Allegro, Altium, or similar)
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing and NPI processes
  • Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret / SCI (or higher)
Benefits & Compensation
  • Base salary range:
    • USA, MD, Jessup: 136,000.00 - 184,000.00 USD annually
    • USA, VA, Arlington: 136,000.00 - 184,000.00 USD annually
    • USA, VA, Herndon: 136,000.00 - 184,000.00 USD annually
