Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to drive the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware in our Northern Virginia lab. You will own complex PCB designs with FPGA SoCs, collaborate across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams, and ensure robust validation and production readiness.

  • Experience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing).
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hardware engineering experience.
  • Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, hardware validation and debugging.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering (preferred).

Join AWS as an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to support the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware. Drive innovation in complex PCBA designs utilizing state-of-the-art FPGA SoCs, working with world-class engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Within Bespoke Solutions, the Refactor hardware development team empowers Region Services teams by eliminating reliance on external vendor constraints. We aim to be the trusted partner of choice for our service teams, delivering comprehensive product life-cycle support that enables them to scale at the pace of customer demand. For teams choosing to develop hardware internally, we provide access to our library of validated designs and proven processes to accelerate their development timelines.

This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Our employees and the neighboring community will also benefit from the associated investments from the Commonwealth including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and new access to Reagan National Airport.

This position requires that the candidate selected must be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

A day in the life

You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, and FPGA engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Your responsibilities will span supporting innovative hardware solutions, conducting PCB design reviews, troubleshooting prototypes, and providing technical influence to team members. You’ll establish strong partnerships with product managers to define technical requirements, collaborate with FPGA engineers to refine hardware interfaces, and work alongside manufacturing teams to ensure successful production scaling.

Basic Qualifications
