Job description

Grow Your Career with a Company That Invests in YOU

Trio Electric is one of the leading electrical design, construction, and service firms in Texas. We are a full-service electrical contractor focusing on commercial and light industrial projects. In house, we boast both a professional engineering team and a 24/7 emergency service team. We are a member of the National Independent Electrical Contractor’s Association (IEC).

At TRIO Electric, you’ll work on some of the largest commercial construction projects in Houston while being supported by industry-leading planning, BIM coordination, prefab operations, and experienced field leadership. Our electricians spend more time installing and less time searching for materials, waiting for answers, or reworking mistakes.

Job Title: Foreman

Department: Field Projects

Reports to: Field Leader / Superintendent

Direct Reports: Crew Leaders (and, through them, Electricians)

Location: Field – traveling throughout Houston

What You’ll Do

The Foreman (also called Project Leader) runs an electrical job from start to finish. This role manages the labor, materials, and production of one or more projects, provides technical expertise in installing and troubleshooting electrical wiring and equipment, and leads several Crew Leaders day to day. The Foreman builds and keeps a 3-week look-ahead, plans labor on the site, serves as the field point person with the general contractor’s superintendent, and solves jobsite issues directly — escalating only what is outside the job’s control, such as major equipment delays or office and customer issues. Other duties and travel will be required. This job description does not limit management’s ability to assign additional tasks.

  • Run the job: build and maintain the 3-week look-ahead, plan labor on the site, and solve jobsite issues directly with the GC and Superintendent
  • Inspect work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met
  • Read specifications such as blueprints to determine construction requirements and to plan procedures.
  • Estimate and order material and evaluate worker requirements to complete jobs
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of Crew Leaders and electricians; remove crew roadblocks so crews stay productive
  • Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports
  • Assign work to employees based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs
  • Maintain a current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and ensure conformances to building and safety codes.

A Foreman or General Foreman who is performing well can point to each of the following:

  • Has run a commercial electrical job and can lead several Crew Leaders
  • Can build and use a 3-week look-ahead, plan site labor, and keep crews productive
  • Knows what can be solved directly with the GC superintendent and what must be escalated
  • Can remove daily roadblocks so Crew Leaders can focus on production
  • Can serve as the field point person on the job
  • Builds Crew Leaders by giving them clear work and room to solve problems, rather than solving everything for them.
What sets TRIO Electric Apart
  • Full-time consistent employment — no temporary or contract positions
  • No overnight or out-of-town projects with overtime opportunities available
  • Mentorship: receive guidance from our Team Leaders who are dedicated to your professional growth with on-going training and development
  • BIM-driven projects and prefab support
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, Paid Holidays and Paid Time Off
  • 401(k) with company contributions
  • Typical work schedule is approximately 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM depending on project requirements
  • Access to an on-site healthcare clinic for you and your family
What We’re Looking For
  • Building and Construction – knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in electrical work
  • Texas Journeyman Electrician License
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a foreman or supervisory role
  • Demonstrated experience running at least one commercial electrical job and leading multiple crew leaders
  • Customer and personal service
  • Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards – using relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards.
  • Making decision and solving problems – analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Communication with supervisors, peers, clients or employees
  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing work – developing specific goals and plans to organize and accomplish work
