Job summary

EPI Power is seeking an experienced electrical Foreman located in Des Moines, Iowa to oversee a data center project site. The Foreman will manage a team of Journeymen and Apprentices, ensuring that all electrical installations are conducted as per specifications and comply with regulatory codes.

Key responsibilities include managing the work crews, performing quality checks, and promoting safety standards. The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma and preferably a valid Iowa Class A or B license.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A or B license from the State of Iowa preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Experience in managing construction teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a crew of 10-15 Journeymen and Apprentices.
  • Ensure all work meets CEC, NEC, and applicable codes.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed.

Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure
Ability to make complex cuts without wasting material
Training and complying with all safety rules

Job description

EPI Power is hiring an electrical Foreman to be located on a data center project site. The Foreman will ensure that planning, laying out, installing, and wiring electrical components are completed as per project drawings specifications and following applicable electrical codes.

The states that reciprocate with Iowa are: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage a crew of 10 - 15 Journeymen and Apprentices
  • Learn employees’ names, ensure their name is on the hard hat, and assign tasks based on strengths and weaknesses
  • Manage and track all tools, ensuring the appropriate number are matched to the crew size, and return all defective tools with tool tags and a brief description of the problem
  • Build effective and cost-efficient composite crews
  • Using a Pre-Fab Coordinator, maximize the use of Pre-Fab and packaging on all tasks and projects
  • Ensure all work installed meets CEC, NEC, state, federal, or any other codes that apply to the project jurisdiction
  • Lead by example in a professional, workmanlike manner, role model for the crew, and challenge all employees to achieve excellence
  • Responsible for the Safety and Field Labor on the project assigned
  • Review individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance
  • Perform constant quality checks and ensure that all work meets specifications
  • Address any deficiencies or issues promptly
  • Ensure materials and tools are readily available to ensure progress is met
  • Promote a safe work environment by enforcing all company and owner guidelines and OSHA safety regulations
  • Inspect work areas for potential hazards and take corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including daily logs and progress reports
  • Understand weekly project objectives with strict adherence to the installation schedule
  • Develop an excellent understanding of the scope of work, drawings, specs and schedule
  • Manage tasks to achieve or exceed production targets provided by General Foreman
What We’re Looking For
  • Education:
    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
  • Experience:
    • A valid Class A or B license from the State of Iowa is preferred
  • Skills:
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure
    • Ability to make complex cuts without wasting material, and figure out complex forming systems
    • Training and complying with all safety rules, and performing without constant supervision
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively with customers and co‑workers
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, sit, stand and walk on uneven ground; use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; frequently make repetitive reaching and other movements with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee frequently is required to speak and listen and must regularly lift and/or move materials. Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must wear all company or project required personal protective equipment (PPE), regularly work in outside weather conditions, be aware of close moving mechanical parts, and perform in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Employee must also be able to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime, per the needs of the project (weekends and holidays included).
