Job description

Job Description Summary

We are looking for an Electrical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Lead Engineer to own the investigation and resolution process for our critical power generation assets. This role is essential to our mission of maximizing fleet availability and minimizing equipment downtime. You will leverage your technical expertise to lead cross‑functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and implement data‑backed solutions for complex electrical failures. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with a strong grasp of both technical engineering and operational project management.

Job Description Roles & Responsibilities
  • End-to-End RCA Ownership: Lead the complete lifecycle of electrical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) projects—from initial identification and containment to final resolution—ensuring robust, timely outcomes that minimize part failures and maximize component reliability.
  • Technical & Operational Leadership: Drive the investigation of both critical and minor electrical issues, balancing deep‑dive technical analysis with operational efficiency.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for Fleet Performance, NPI Engineering, Field Services, Sourcing, and Quality teams. Foster collaborative relationships to develop holistic solutions for fleet‑wide challenges.
  • Team Coordination: Define the necessary resources and expertise for RCA task forces; proactively manage and allocate resource requirements to ensure team success.
  • Performance Metrics & Reliability: Monitor and report on key RCA performance indicators (KPIs). Partner with service teams to analyze failure data and lead strategic initiatives to reduce failure rates in major components (e.g., generators, transformers, power converters).
  • Supplier Engagement: Partner with Sourcing to lead commercial and technical discussions with vendors.
  • Financial & Administrative Stewardship: Manage RCA‑related budgets, including cost‑benefit analysis and the procurement workflow (PO generation and approval) required to execute resolution plans.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the technical authority for RCA‑related communications, delivering clear, consistent, and concise updates to internal leadership and external customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years experience in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience supporting electrical systems, troubleshooting field issues, or working in a service engineering environment.
  • Experience in wind, power generation, manufacturing, or other industrial environments is preferred.
  • Able to travel to wind farms and climb turbines.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor employment visas, now or in the future, for this position.
Preferred Profile
  • Hands‑on approach to solving field and product issues.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and technical issue resolution.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, components, and BOMs.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple service priorities.
  • Experience supporting field and factory defect resolutions.
  • Effective communicator who can work across technical and operational teams.
