Job summary

Shimmick, through Axia Electric, seeks an Electrical General Superintendent based in Southern California or the Seattle area. Lead field electrical construction, oversee full project life-cycle, and coordinate with GC/A&E teams, clients, and regulators to deliver high-quality, on-time outcomes.

The role emphasizes safety culture, QA/QC, schedule discipline, and cost control, with leadership of diverse electrical crews on major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all field electrical construction activities across assigned projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution aligned with contract, budget, and schedule.
• Oversee the full life-cycle of project delivery, including pre-construction planning, constructability review, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
• Serve as the primary on-site authority for all electrical scopes, coordinating with GCs, A/E teams, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions including engineering support, material control, installation crews, testing/commissioning, and I&C work.
• Champion safety culture; ensure compliance with EHS programs and site protocols; drive corrective actions.
• Maintain QA/QC systems; conduct inspections; verify workmanship meets specs and standards to avoid rework.
• Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, CBOM, and technical documents for accuracy and constructability.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules, look-ahead plans, manpower forecasts, and productivity tracking; oversee subs and vendors.
• Support formal change management: evaluate change orders, analyze field impacts, and provide recommendations and justification.
• Approve equipment rentals and major purchases to maintain cost control and efficiency; collaborate with PMs on budget and risk.
• Develop, maintain equipment and ST&S inventory for assigned projects.
• Provide advanced technical guidance on electrical construction methods, equipment, sequencing, testing, and commissioning; troubleshoot complex issues.
