Job summary

Southern Company seeks an Electrical Field Services Engineer to provide technical services in the electrical discipline at Plant McIntosh, Rincon, GA, and supporting coastal Georgia sites. The role includes problem resolution, testing, design reviews, and after-hours callouts to keep fossil, gas and renewable plants running reliably.

You will work with multiple generation sites, travel ~25%, and mentor newer engineers while maintaining safety and cost discipline in all activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Broad knowledge of power plant systems and operation.
• Proficiency in excitation system calibration and problem resolution.
• Proficiency in low, medium, and high voltage switchgear concepts and designs.
• Proficiency in switchgear electrical control and applications.
• Working knowledge of protective relaying application and philosophy.
• Ability to communicate with plant employees at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage time properly and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Electrical Field Services Engineer – Georgia

Technical Shared Services (TSS) - Electrical Systems & Field Support

This position will be located at Plant McIntosh in Rincon, GA.

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide technical services in the electrical discipline to fossil, gas and renewable generating facilities within the Southern Company. These services include but are not limited to problem resolution, routine testing, design review, checkout and startup of new equipment, technical consulting, and unplanned/emergency callouts (afterhours).

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS (LOCATION & TRAVEL)

• This position will be based at Plant McIntosh and will support multiple generation sites in coastal Georgia.
• Occasional overnight travel will be required – approximately 25%.

Education

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.

Experience
