Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Electrical Field Services Engineer located at Plant McIntosh in Rincon, GA. The role provides technical electrical services across fossil, gas and renewable generation facilities, including problem resolution, testing, design reviews and startup of new equipment, with after-hours callouts.

You'll work with the Technical Shared Services team to support multiple generation sites in coastal Georgia, travel up to 25% and mentor newer engineers while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Broad general knowledge of power plant systems.
• Proficiency in excitation system calibration and problem resolution.
• Proficiency in low, medium, and high voltage switchgear concepts and designs.
• Proficiency in switchgear electrical control and applications.
• Working knowledge of protective relaying application and philosophy.
• Ability to communicate with plant employees at all working and management levels.
• Ability to manage time properly and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Technical Shared Services (TSS) - Electrical Systems & Field Support

This position will be located at Plant McIntosh in Rincon, GA.

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide technical services in the electrical discipline to fossil, gas and renewable generating facilities within the Southern Company. These services include but are not limited to problem resolution, routine testing, design review, checkout and startup of new equipment, technical consulting, and unplanned/emergency callouts (afterhours).

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS (LOCATION & TRAVEL)

• This position will be based at Plant McIntosh and will support multiple generation sites in coastal Georgia.
• Occasional overnight travel will be required – approximately 25%.

Education

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
