Job summary

EnerSys in Carrollton is seeking a Field Service Technician to provide on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of energy storage systems. You will travel to customer sites, diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, compliant operation of equipment.

The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical aptitude, the ability to read schematics, and strong customer service skills. Travel, lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional overtime are expected.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of customer service experience in field support.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience working with hand and power tools.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and write documents (e.g., customer correspondence, memos, reports) in English.
  • Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Experience largely in the electrical field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000.
  • Operate material handling equipment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
  • Keep accurate records of performance reports.
  • Interact with all levels of personnel, both inside and outside the company.
  • Develop and conduct training on safe equipment operations, demonstrating skills to team members and customers.
  • Act as a communication link between customers and the company to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Provide the highest quality service possible to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Function independently without direct supervision.
  • Perform basic arithmetic—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Complete compliance and job‑specific training.
  • Replace defective parts, reassemble and repair batteries and related equipment, and install new equipment at customer facilities according to specifications.
  • Provide on‑site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Submit timely service reports, expense reports, quality alerts, and maintenance reports to the company.
  • Be directly responsible for company assets, including a service vehicle, parts inventory, tools, and test equipment.

Job Purpose

Provide technical and application support for EnerSys products and services, in the assigned area against profitable margins and in line with the business plan, in order to contribute to the realization of service‑related sales and service targets.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate or diploma in mechanical, electronic, electrical, or a related field for the applicable location
  • Basic electrical understanding
  • Use of test equipment and reading schematics
  • Hands‑on job experience
  • Experience largely in the electrical field where applicable
General Job Requirements
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight
  • Must be able and willing to operate a forklift
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and pass the company’s driving requirements
  • Must be able to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must be able to differentiate colors
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilos) on a daily continuous basis; heavier loads require mechanical assistance or another employee
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment properly at all times
  • Must be willing to be on‑call
  • Must be willing to wear a respirator
  • Must be willing to work overtime
  • Must be willing to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Risk of electrical shock
  • Exposure to harmful materials such as lead and fiberglass; periodic blood tests required to measure lead levels; precautions are taken to reduce exposure and ensure safety
  • Work environment may include plant/warehouse settings with varying conditions
