Job summary

ABB's Energy Industries Division in Houston seeks a Quality Control Specialist to ensure quality and compliance of electrical projects across facilities, sites, and customer locations. The role requires frequent travel to support execution and ensure installations meet codes and ABB standards.

As part of the team, you will verify drawings, manage field records, and work with project managers and engineers to drive corrective actions and ensure safe, high-quality turnover packages.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical construction, quality assurance, commissioning, field engineering, or related industrial roles.
• Strong knowledge of the NEC and electrical installation best practices.
• Experience interpreting electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and construction documentation.
• Experience performing field quality inspections and documenting inspection results.
• Ability to travel extensively (approximately 50-75%) across the United States and internationally as required.
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or quality-related certifications are a plus.
• Authorized to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Travel regularly to facilities, construction sites, and customer locations to perform quality inspections and audits.
• Utilize safety systems to perform work and promote accident-free work environments.
• Develop procedures and checklists for testing activities and inspection tasks.
• Ensure electrical installations conform to ABB drawings, specs, local codes, and industry standards.
• Document findings and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Produce construction progress reports and align project teams with quality and schedule updates.
• Verify redline drawings are completed and submitted regularly.
• Ensure turnover packages, inspection reports, and test documentation are accurate.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, commissioning, and construction teams to resolve quality issues.
