Job summary

Abacus is seeking an Electrical Estimator in the Aberdeen, MD area to calculate costs and gains for construction projects. You will analyze data, gather information on-site, and prepare detailed estimates and bids for submission.

The ideal candidate has a solid apprenticeship background, strong numerical skills, and excellent communication abilities. The role reports to the VP of Estimating and requires proficiency with estimating software, attention to detail, and a practical hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an electrical estimator in residential and commercial.
• Experience in electrical field work of at least five (5) years.
• Proven experience as electrical estimator.
• Hands on attitude.
• Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
• Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics.
• Comfortable with numbers and technology.
• Basic knowledge of estimating software like Viewpoint, ConEst, etc.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Well-organized and reliable.
• Attended a certified electrical apprenticeship program.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Acquire understanding of the project requirements and provide an accurate estimate.
• Select metrics to produce valid estimates.
• Visit sites, warehouses and other venues to gather essential information.
• Review documents or consult experts to collect all necessary data.
• Analyze data and produce forecasts.
• Prepare detailed reports or bids for submission to appropriate parties.
• Select advantageous deals by evaluating offers and quotes.
• Foster relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, architects etc.).
• Familiar with all aspects of electrical codes to produce a design and build an estimate.
• Other duties as assigned involving estimates and or pricing of any change related to items of a project.
