Responsibilities

• Estimates cost for electrical construction by reviewing documents and requirements.
• Calculates costs and prepares competitive bid proposals for national electrical projects.
• Manages multiple projects from concept through bid, design and subcontract phases.
• Coordinates with Project Managers and Superintendents on schedule and construction considerations.
• Distributes bid documents and communicates with vendors to obtain quotes.
• Ensures compliance with Kilgore policies and safety standards.

Primary Function

The Electrical Estimator estimates commercial, industrial, and multi-family electrical systems and drawings. The Estimator is responsible for calculating the cost of electrical construction by reviewing and evaluating available documents and developing accurate, competitive, and profitable bid proposals for a variety of national electrical projects.

Position Duties

• Establishes estimating tables prior to performing takeoff
• Calculates the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents
• Analyzes project for value engineering options while considering specific job conditions that may affect labor and materials to be purchased and installed
• Manages multiple individual projects from concept through the bidding, design and subcontract bidding phases
• Works in high pressure situations such as bid day and represents Kilgore in periodic owner/design team meetings
• Analyzes and measures “risk” between subcontractors
• Analyzes and determines approach for various project delivery types
• Orders, reviews and distributes bid documents to ensure consistency and eliminate errors
• Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents regarding schedule and special construction considerations
• Supports all phases of design, from conceptual studies through detailed construction drawings, documentation and schedules
• Requests material and equipment quotes from vendors while maintaining a positive relationship
• May perform job walks to ensure field conditions have been observed that may affect the construction, the prospective bid, and/or may impact the pre-construction designs and the electrical services
• Adheres to Kilgore’s policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations
• Reports to the office Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• College degree or Active Texas Electrical License (Master’s or Journeyman)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial or industrial construction industry
• Minimum 10 years of field or electrical estimating experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience operating Trimble Accubid and Livecount

• Works well in a team environment
