Job description

Position Summary

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for estimating new projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents to identify requirements and create bid proposals.
  2. Perform and input accurate take-offs.
  3. Calculate the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents.
  4. Analyze projects for value engineering options, considering specific job conditions that may affect labor and material costs.
  5. Identify inconsistencies, conflicts, and other issues in bid documents.
  6. Support pre-planning activities for projects.
  7. Maintain project documents such as drawings and specifications in an organized manner.
  8. Manage project files on the company file server in accordance with standards.
  9. Prepare cost reconciliations between estimates and explain variance drivers.
  10. Request and review material and equipment quotes from vendors and suppliers.
  11. Ensure quotes adhere to requests and are accurate.
  12. Prepare bid documents, including specific scope letters for each project.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of electrical estimating experience for commercial and industrial projects
  • Ability to read plans and specifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
