Position Summary
The Electrical Estimator will develop and prepare cost estimates for electrical projects of varying sizes and complexities, both public and private, to ensure competitiveness, profitability, and growth.
Core Responsibilities
- Learn and follow Estimating Department strategies and processes on every project
- Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and other relevant documents to determine scope of work
- Analyze construction documents (electrical, mechanical, civil, architectural, specifications) to accurately quantify electrical scope items
- Understand the Electric Code to review drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Quantify all material and labor requirements accurately
- Identify conflicts or issues in bid documents and submit RFIs when necessary
- Develop bid strategies and value engineering ideas
- Conduct job walks to observe field conditions affecting bids and designs
- Request quotes from vendors and suppliers
- Process quotations, analyze prices, terms, and delivery against requirements
- Input take-off information into estimating software
- Prepare proposals, scope of work letters, and RFP responses
- Create estimate summaries and assist in final presentation preparations
- Ensure estimates are complete, organized, and submitted on time
- Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and clients regarding estimates
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- Attend estimating and sales meetings, and participate in project discussions
- Coordinate with team members for proper information handover
- Follow contracts, including estimating additional work, change orders, and procurement
- Support larger projects and departmental tasks as needed
- Track bidding and sales metrics for performance analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To succeed, candidates must:
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have 2-7 years of estimating, sales, or project management experience in commercial and industrial electrical trades
- Be knowledgeable of the NEC
- Have some electrical installation field experience
- Demonstrate excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and estimating software
- Pass pre-employment drug, background, and reference checks
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- 2-7 years estimating, sales, or project management experience in electrical trades
- Proficiency with NEC
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Clean driving, drug, and background records
