Job Overview:
JL Electrical is hiring an electrical estimator responsible for calculating estimated costs for electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance. The estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive project pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzing Blueprints and Technical Documents:
- Review and interpret electrical plans and specifications to prepare comprehensive project estimates.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to understand project scope.
- Estimating Costs:
- Calculate costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses.
- Adjust estimates based on timelines, risks, and economic trends.
- Preparing Proposals:
- Compile detailed proposals including analysis, timelines, costs, and documentation.
- Present proposals clearly, ensuring all technical and financial details are understandable.
- Project Management Support:
- Assist project managers with cost-related insights.
- Monitor scope or schedule changes affecting costs and update estimates accordingly.
- Vendor and Client Relations:
- Negotiate with vendors for quality and cost-effective products.
- Maintain good client relationships to understand needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Maintaining Records:
- Keep records of past estimates and actual costs for future use.
- Use historical data to improve estimating processes.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure estimates comply with laws, regulations, and standards.
- Stay updated on energy codes and standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with electrical systems and their installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Proficiency in estimating software and databases.
- Attention to detail, strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read complex instructions and documents.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Education:
- Degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field.
- Certifications in cost estimation or project management are advantageous.
Experience:
- Experience in electrical estimation or related field preferred.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's license for at least 3 years.
- 30% travel required to visit sites.
