Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group seeks an Estimator to build full estimates and proposals for electrical projects. You will prepare lump-sum bids, detailed proposals, unit costs and quantity takeoffs for a wide range of projects and a varied client base.

You’ll collaborate with leadership and project teams from initial concept through handoff, ensuring bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with client needs. This role emphasizes accuracy and continuous improvement, with strong room to grow.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical estimating experience (commercial construction preferred)
• A bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field (relevant experience considered instead of a degree)
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials and industry standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Trimble Accubid (v16) experience preferred
• Excellent communication, time management and analytical skills
• High standards for accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, complete labor and material estimates for electrical construction projects
• Review drawings, specs, scope and schedules so bids are complete and competitive
• Request, evaluate and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Price standard and specialty equipment, and keep cost databases up to date
• Flag risks, assumptions and clarifications, and explain them clearly to leadership
• Support value engineering and preconstruction pricing
• Work with project teams to hand jobs off smoothly from bid to build

My client is a well-established electrical contractor with 50+ years in business and a team of several hundred. They're one of the leading specialty contractors in the Kansas City market, delivering complex electrical work across design-build, preconstruction, underground, data/comm and specialty systems.

The role

The Estimator builds full estimates and proposals for electrical projects.
