Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of direct level support electrical repair functions at field or shop locations.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and related equipment.
- Complete repairs on a variety of complex electrical systems and equipment.
- Interpret technical specifications, schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Use test equipment to troubleshoot malfunctions at the lowest circuit element on single or multiple layer printed circuit boards.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to employees performing diagnostics on simple components.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver licence.
- Wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations.
- May be required to enter established impact areas to repair, overhaul or modify targets and accessories.
- Position requires frequent lifting over 50 lbs.
- May be required to work non‑standard duty hours (shifts, weekends, holidays, scheduled or unscheduled overtime) and may be subject to recall 24 hours a day, seven days a week in case of emergency or to support range operations.
- Must possess sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work of this position with normal supervision.
Qualifications
- Experience, paid or unpaid, including volunteer work through National Service programs or other organizations, may be credited.
- No specific length of training or experience is required; applicants must demonstrate the necessary capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen‑Out Element)
- Ability to perform the work of an Electrical Equipment Repairer with normal supervision.
- Skill in performing common electrical repair functions and in testing equipment to troubleshoot malfunctions at the lowest circuit element.
Physical Effort
- Frequent standing on hard surfaces, bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequent lifting and carrying unassisted up to 50 pounds; occasionally heavier items with assistance or equipment.
Working Conditions
- Work in well‑lighted, heated and ventilated areas; exposure to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, strains, electrical shock and abrasions.
- Exposure to dirt, solvents, fuel, fumes, oil and grease; use of safety equipment such as ear plugs, face shields, gloves, hard hats, glasses and safety shoes.
- Work outside in all types of environmental conditions; occasional work around ammunition, explosives, live fire ranges, pyrotechnics and laser frequencies.
