Job description

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Job Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technician - RF is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting the assembly, installation, test, troubleshooting, validation, and verification of communication and RF systems. This position works closely with RF engineers to execute test procedures, collect measurement data, support hardware bring-up, build and maintain RF testbeds, and help ensure RF systems are installed and tested correctly across lab, field, outdoor, and end-platform applications.

The ideal candidate is a practical RF technician who can follow detailed instructions and test procedures, operate RF test equipment fluently, perform reliable and repeatable RF measurements without close supervision, assist engineers during troubleshooting, and communicate clearly when results or system behavior do not look right.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with RF engineers to support RF system end-to-end testing, validation and verification, troubleshooting, hardware bring-up, and RF testbed builds.
  • Execute detailed RF test procedures accurately, consistently, and repeatably.
  • Collect, record, and communicate RF test results, observations, failures, and status updates clearly to RF engineers and team members.
  • Operate common RF and electronic test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, antennas, E-field probes, power meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and frequency reference, clock, or timing equipment.
  • Set up, verify, and troubleshoot RF test configurations, cables, adapters, antennas, and related hardware.
  • Support calibration-related activities and ensure test equipment is used within valid calibration status.
  • Assist with measurement accuracy, repeatability, and basic uncertainty considerations during RF testing.
  • Assist with RF cable routing, connector and cable inspection, cable labeling, connector weatherproofing, and general RF installation work.
  • Support outdoor RF testing, field testing, system-level validation, and installation activities on various end platforms and applications.
  • Follow work instructions, test procedures, safety requirements, and engineering direction in lab, production, and field environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience working with RF systems, electronics, communication systems, or RF test equipment.
  • Ability to use RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power meters, antennas, E-field probes, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Ability to follow and execute detailed test procedures with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collect reliable measurements and document test results accurately.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to promptly raise issues when something does not look right.
  • Ability to work closely with RF engineers and follow technical direction.
  • Comfortable working in laboratory, production, field, and outdoor environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for field testing, installations, and system support.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to execute from a test plan, not only from a detailed test procedure.
  • Familiarity with vector signal generators and vector signal analyzers.
  • Experience terminating coaxial cables in a highly repeatable fashion.
  • Experience working around communication base stations, RF base stations, radios, antennas, or field communication sites.
  • Experience with RF cable assemblies, coaxial cables, adapters, attenuators, terminations, splitters, filters, and antennas.
  • Understanding of measurement accuracy, calibration, and uncertainty in RF testing.
  • Experience troubleshooting RF paths, cable loss, connector issues, signal levels, noise, interference, and basic link problems.
  • Relevant electronics, RF, wireless, telecommunications, or test-equipment certifications.
  • RF test automation experience.
  • Associate degree, technical certificate, trade school training, military electronics and RF training, or related technical field preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional standing and walking within the office
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
