Job summary

Black & Veatch in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an Engineering Technician to support engineering teams with design documentation, CAD/BIM modeling, and project deliverables. You will contribute to diverse projects across power generation facilities, applying engineering principles and staying current with BV standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate required.
• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
• Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports engineering teams under general supervision.
• Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling).
• Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
• Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians.
• Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures.
• Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
• Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures.
• Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
• Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences.
• Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers.
• Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes.
