Job summary

Black & Veatch in Chattanooga, TN seeks an Entry Level Engineering Technician to support engineering teams on critical infrastructure projects. Under close supervision, you will gain hands-on experience with design tools and documentation delivery.

You will apply basic engineering principles using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling, assist with measurements and calculations, and help ensure deliverables meet BV quality standards while collaborating with internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
  • Completion of pre-employment onboarding requirements may be required.
  • Ability to learn under close supervision and apply basic engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply BV standards, systems, and the BV Quality Program.
  • Provide support with CAD/BIM/3D modeling to produce documentation.
  • Assist with basic computations and dimensional checks as needed.
  • Coordinate deliverables with other groups to minimize errors.
  • Support internal clients while understanding external client drivers.

Job Summary

As an Entry Level Engineering Technician at Black & Veatch in Chattanooga, TN, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients’ goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch.

Under close supervision, you will provide technical support to engineering teams by performing tasks that require a basic understanding of engineering principles and practices. You will utilize digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist in the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. You will also participate in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Continue to learn and apply standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and BV policies and procedures. Ensure that deliverables are accurate and compliant by continually developing knowledge of the BV Quality Program. Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts. Broaden knowledge of the applications required to modify and develop less complex deliverables based on a variety of design inputs. May assist with minor computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks and in coordinating deliverables with other groups involved on the same project to minimize interference or errors. Focus on the needs of internal clients while attempting to gain a basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers. Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes. Serve as a resource for an assigned function: Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Electrical.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineering Design Related Technology degree preferred.

Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience.
