Beta Engineering seeks an Electrical Engineering Technician to assist project engineers with layout and design of high voltage substations, switchyards, power quality projects, transmission lines and related high voltage work. You will generate and review drawings and perform necessary calculations in a collaborative project team environment.

Expect to work on AC/DC schematics and cable schedules, with occasional travel to active job sites.

Qualifications

• Vocational or technical certification as an Electrical Engineering Technician or an Associate Degree is the minimum requirement.
• Bachelor’s Degree as an Electrical Engineering Technology or Engineering Technology is preferred.
• Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

• Generates new and makes corrections to existing one-lines, panel elevations, AC/DC/Communication schematics, relay panel wiring diagrams and equipment wiring diagrams
• Makes other changes and corrections to drawings as instructed
• Performs batch plotting of project drawings in preparation for delivery to customer
• Performs various calculations for cabling, battery sizing, lighting design, AC load and ground grid
• Generates cable scheduling
• Demonstrates integrity and ethics in all client relationships and communications.
• Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer’s experience.

Electrical Engineering Technicians (EET) assist project engineers with layout and design of high voltage substations, switchyards, power quality projects, transmission lines and other high voltage production and distribution projects. EETs generate and review internal project drawings, one-line drawings, three-line drawings, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams. In addition, EETs will generate required calculations and cable schedule documents. EETs work as part of a project team to complete these tasks in accordance with the project requirements and schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generates new and makes corrections to existing one-lines, panel elevations, AC\DC\Communication schematics, relay panel wiring diagrams and equipment wiring diagrams

• The Electrical Engineering Technician will have zero employees reporting to this position.
• As assigned by the designated Team Leader and/or EE Manager

• Occasional overnight travel to active job sites
• Must have clean driving record as use of company vehicles is a requirement of position
• Maintains highlighted check prints of all work they perform
• Adhere to and practice the Beta core competencies and Beta principle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Vocational or technical certification as an Electrical Engineering Technician or an Associate Degree is the minimum requirement. Bachelor’s Degree as an Electrical Engineering Technology or Engineering Technology is preferred.
• Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of all or some of the following applications are preferred: AutoCAD, Microstation,CDEGS grounding software

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Will work in an office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental hazards. May involve prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Use of company vehicle, on occasion. A successful Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required.
• Overnight travel is required to an active construction site for a period of one or two weeks at a time. Ability to perform duties safely and to adhere to each job site’s safety requirements; while working on an active job site, outdoors, is a requirement.
