Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician in Cranston, RI to support experimental development by setting up sensors, data acquisition, and automation hardware. You will configure, troubleshoot, and validate test systems with close collaboration from engineers to ensure safety, accuracy, and reliability.

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands on experience with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition hardware.
  • Working knowledge of LabVIEW, PLC programming, and VFD setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
  • US Citizen and/or permanent resident.

What You Will Do

Johnson Controls is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician, based in one of our advanced R&D facilities located in Cranston, RI.
The Electrical Engineering Technician will support experimental development by setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting sensors, instrumentation, automation hardware, and data acquisition systems. You will work closely with engineers to ensure test systems operate safely, accurately, and reliably. We require candidates to be US Citizens and/or permanent residents of the US. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

How You Will Do It
  • Set up, configure, and maintain sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems used in fire suppression R&D testing.

What We Look For
Required
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Hands on experience with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition hardware.
  • Working knowledge of LabVIEW, PLC programming, and VFD setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
  • US Citizen and/or permanent resident.
Preferred
  • Experience working with water or hydraulic test loops, including pumps, valves, and flow control systems.
  • Experience within the fire protection industry.
Compensation

$28.00- $38.00/hr. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
