Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a Technical Engineering Specialist in the Electronic Fabrication and Test Systems Department (ESRD) within the Undersea Systems Office (USO). The role focuses on fabricating, assembling, testing electronic equipment and supporting electrical and electronic systems for DoD and Navy-related projects.

This on-site position requires occasional travel to remote locations; ARL is a DoD SkillBridge partner and eligible for qualified

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• No mandatory certifications required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist, perform, or provide input to layout, fabrication, assembly, documentation, and testing of electronic equipment.
• Assist or evaluate selection and purchase of materials and components and interact with vendors.
• Assist with install, calibration, operation and maintenance of equipment and systems, identify faults, and repair.
• Assist senior staff in gathering, compiling, and archiving test data.
• Work with a project team in the Laboratory or off-site.
