Job summary

Electric Equipment & Engineering Co & Endpoint Industrial Controls is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Project Estimator to join our growing team in Fort Collins. Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, electrical project engineering, technical inside sales, switchboard/panelboard manufacturing, or systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, competitive quotations for UL891 switchboards, generator docking stations, UL 67 panelboards, custom UL 508A control panels, DC disconnects, and automation projects.
  • Review customer specifications, electrical one-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring schematics, and project documentation.
  • Develop detailed material and labor estimates by evaluating drawings, BOMs, labor, pricing, and production costs.
  • Build and maintain first-draft Bills of Materials (BOMs) and estimate engineering, fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing, and commissioning labor.
  • Configure equipment and quotations using manufacturer software (ABB Empower, Siemens COMPAS, and related platforms).
  • Evaluate multiple options based on customer requirements, lead times, cost, manufacturability, and schedule; communicate with customers on questions and lead times.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, production, and project management throughout quotation process; maintain organized files and documentation.

Position Summary

Electric Equipment & Engineering Co & Endpoint Industrial Controls are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Project Estimator to join our growing engineering team.

This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive quotations for UL891 switchboards, generator docking stations, UL 67 panelboards, custom UL 508A control panels, DC disconnects, industrial control systems, and automation projects. Working closely with engineering, project management, purchasing, and manufacturing, this role develops project estimates by evaluating electrical drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials, labor requirements, manufacturer pricing, and production costs.

The ideal candidate has experience with critical power, electrical distribution, or industrial automation products and enjoys solving technical problems while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Review customer specifications, electrical one-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring schematics, engineering drawings, and project documentation.

Develop detailed material and labor estimates for custom electrical equipment including:

  • UL891 Switchboards
  • Generator Docking Stations
  • UL 67 Panelboards
  • Motor Control Centers
  • PLC Control Systems
  • DC Disconnects

Build and maintain a first draft of Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Estimate engineering, fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing, and commissioning labor.

Configure equipment and prepare quotations using manufacturer software, including:

  • ABB Empower
  • Siemens COMPAS and related configurators
  • Other manufacturer pricing and configuration platforms

Evaluate multiple equipment options based on customer requirements, lead times, cost, manufacturability, and project schedule.

Analyze estimate-to-actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy.

Create project milestones and scheduling assumptions to support project execution.

Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, production, and project management throughout the quotation process.

Maintain organized quotation files, revisions, and supporting documentation using Salesforce, SharePoint and internal systems.

Communicate professionally with customers regarding technical questions, scope clarification, pricing, and lead times.

Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve estimating accuracy and operational efficiency.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

  • Applications engineering
  • Electrical project engineering
  • Technical inside sales
  • Switchboard or panelboard manufacturing
  • Systems integration

Experience reading:

  • Bills of Materials
  • Construction drawings

Experience with electrical equipment including:

  • Motor control
  • PLC systems
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Experience using manufacturer quotation or configuration software such as ABB, Eaton, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar platforms preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Project and SharePoint preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate estimates.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including professional customer correspondence and organized quotation documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous projects, revisions, files, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and accomplishment-driven with a strong desire to complete work accurately and continuously move projects forward.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize multiple manufacturer software platforms and electrical product catalogs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, industrial controls, and automation equipment.
  • Ability to balance cost, manufacturability, lead time, and customer expectations when developing quotations.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, project management, suppliers, and customers.
