Job summary

John Charles Search is partnering with an established engineering and manufacturing business to hire an Electrical Engineering Manager for conveyor and automation systems. The role leads the electrical/controls team through design to commissioning.

The successful candidate will mentor engineers, oversee electrical system design, and ensure compliance with safety and electrical codes while collaborating with mechanical, manufacturing and project teams on multiple concurrent initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or 7–10+ years of relevant experience.
• 3–5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls and industrial automation.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, UL and OSHA requirements.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Strong leadership, communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor electrical engineers, controls engineers and designers.
• Oversee electrical design for conveyor and material-handling systems.
• Review electrical schematics, panel layouts and control drawings.
• Lead PLC, HMI, VFD and automated control system development.
• Ensure designs meet electrical codes, safety standards and customer requirements.
• Work closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing and project teams.
• Support commissioning, startup and complex technical troubleshooting.
• Manage engineering resources across multiple projects.
• Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support.
