Job summary

Fairfield University seeks an Electrical Engineering Laboratory Technician to support laboratories and makerspaces across the School of Engineering and Computing. The role involves maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and assisting faculty, staff, and students in scheduled courses and research activities.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to a safe learning environment. This is a 12-month role with occasional after-hours work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and electronic lab equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with common test and measurement equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment in labs and makerspaces.
  • Troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuits and experimental setups.
  • Maintain records of equipment maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Prepare labs for undergraduate/graduate courses and research.
  • Support faculty and students with demonstrations and technical assistance.
